Tape Challenge at Cute & Cool Creations

I've been wanting to try cutting silhouette patterns from a row of washi tapes. I think they look cool and are really quick to make, once you have a template you are happy with. It looks like I've acquired quite an assortment of green tapes, so that's what made up my colour choice, but this might work even better in the traditional Delft pottery blue!



Erilaisten muotojen leikkely washiteipeistä on juttu, jota on tehnyt mieleni kokeilla jo pitkään, ja ATC-kortti syntyikin tosi nopeasti tällä tekniikalla, kunhan olin ensin piirtänyt sopivan muodon! Piirsin kannun, liimasin teipit rivissä ja leikkasin sitten kuvion ääriviivojaan pitkin irti. Taustapaperin voi irrottaa ja siirtää teippikuvion suoraan korttipohjaan. Teippivarastostani löytyi paljon vihreää, joten se määräsi kannun värin, mutta tämä voisi olla vielä ihanampi sinisenä!

Allt om Scrap DT: Burlap as Stencil

Hello, and happy Monday! This week at Allt om Scrap we created with stencils and masks. These are among my favourite tools, but this time I had an extra challenge, having left them behind at our summer cottage. I decided to experiment with something I found at home, namely the burlap fabric. I removed some of the threads, leaving empty squares here and there to be coloured with mists.



Heippa! Tämän viikon teemana Allt om Scrap -sivustolla on sabluunat ja maskit. Ne kuuluvat ehdottomasti omiin suosikkityökaluihini, joten tämä oli kiva teema! Lisää mielenkiintoa tehtävään toi se, että omat sabluunani ja maskini olivat kaikki mökillä kesäloman askartelujen jäljiltä. Samaan tarkoitukseen voi onneksi käyttää monenmoista kotoa löytyvää esineistöä, ja päätin kokeilla sabluunaksi säkkikangasta, josta poistin osan langoista jättäen jäljelle tyhjiä "ruudukon" kohtia.

Fiskarettes DT: Gift Box with Balloons

Hello! Fiskars has brought another die cutting and embossing machine to the market, called the Fuse Creativity System. We, the Fiskarettes DT members, got some pre-cuts made with that and also with AdvantEdge Punch System, a smaller machine for cutting decorative borders.

The joyful balloon border (cut with AdvantEdge) inspired me to do something party related for my DT post, so I decided to decorate my gift box (cut with Fuse) in a children's party theme. A beaded necklace fits perfectly inside, which is something my 6-year-old likes to make for his friends these days!

I used a flower patterned stamp and yellow embossing powder for the background before assembling the box. I then used bright red acrylic paint for the balloon border and lively turquoise jewel brads to attach the title "Congratulations". Have a nice party!



Fiskarsilta on nyt tulossa oma stanssauslaite Fuse, jolla stanssattuja rasia-aihioita pääsin DT:n ominaisuudessa testailemaan. Saimme myös monitoimilävistäjä AdvantEdgellä leikattuja boordeja.

Iloinen ilmapalloboordi innosti juhla-aiheiseen askarteluun, ja päätin koristella lahjarasian lastenjuhlia ajatellen. Sinne sopii kivasti vaikka tuollainen koru, joita ainakin oma kuusivuotiaani on nyt innostunut tekemään kavereilleen!

Ennen rasian kokoamista leimasin kohojauheella siihen hennon keltaisen kukkataustan kohojauheella. Ilmapalloboordin pätkän maalasin akryylimaaleilla iloisen punaiseksi, ja viimeistelin rasian värikkäin timanttihaaraniitein kiinnitetyllä onnittelutervehdyksellä. Hauskaa juhlapäivää!

Allt om Scrap DT: Decorate with Chipboard

Hi everyone, and Happy Sunday! Today our theme at Allt om Scrap is wood and chipboard decorations. Chipboard elements are fun to alter in different ways, while wood veneer looks funky with its original woodgrain colour and pattern.

I made this ATC with the anatomical heart chipboard and coordinated stamp by 3rd Eye. I stamped the heart using black embossing powder and painted it with golden acrylic paint. What's your favourite way to alter chipboard?

Käytin ATC-kortissa 3rd Eyen leimasinta ja yhteenkuuluvaa chipboard-koristetta, joka löytyy täältä. Leimasin ääriviivat mustaa kohojauhetta käyttäen ja maalasin kullanvärisellä akryylimaalilla. Millä lailla sinä tykkäät koristella chipboard-kuvioita?

Summer of Color, Week 6: Raspberry, Tangerine and Lemon

Hello! We're having a record heat wave here in Finland and I've been spending almost every spare moment outside in the shade or on a beach, so I'm a bit behind in updating update my projects. This painting is for the last palette of the Summer of Color challenge that closed a week ago. I was instantly inspired by the colours: Raspberry, Tangerine and a Smudge, Splash or Pop of Lemon!

From a drawing guide book, I'd gotten the idea to practice drawing outlines only and wanted to give it a try. I first sketched the outlines of the Orange Daylilies and painted them tangerine orange with acrylics. The lemon yellow is in the handwriting in the background. I wrote the names of the flower in different languages, and then painted over it all with the colour raspberry, in watercolour. In this technique, you need to use acrylics for what you paint first, so that it won't bleed when getting wet again.

I'm also linking this another inspiration, namely last week's Take a Word Challenge: Silhouttes. And I'll be back later to add the credits for the book I referred to!



Hei, ja huh hellettä! Tässä alkaa olla monta työtä päivittämättä, kun on tehnyt mieli viettää kaikki liikenevä aika rannoilla tai pihan varjoissa. Nämä rusopäivänliljat maalasin Summer of Color -haasteen viimeiselle viikolle, jossa värien nimet olivat mandariini, vadelma ja sitruuna. Luonnostelin kukkien ääriviivat ja maalasin ne akryyliväreillä. Keltaisen osuus on tausta, johon kirjoitin käsin kukan nimeä eri kielillä. Lopuksi maalasin kaiken päältä vesiväreillä vadelmanpunaisella. Tässä tekniikassa nsimmäinen vaihe tulee maalata nimenomaan akryyliväreillä, jotta väri ei leviä kastuessaan uudelleen!
